Day 1: City Tour
Walk in Cusco, “Qosqo” (Navel of the world) former Inca capital city, laid out in the shape of a Puma, it is the oldest permanently inhabited city in this part of the world
Visit the Qoricancha, Temple of Sun God of the Incas
“Qoricancha” Inka Sun temple (golden enclosure) was dedicated to Viracocha (creator god), Inti (Sun god) and other deities.
Its basaltic-andesite stone walls were covered with more than 700 sheets of gold, its courtyard was filled with life-size sculptures of animals and plants, all made out of gold.
It was a main astronomical observatory with “seques”, (sacred imaginary lines) addressed to certain positions in the sky horizon.
Walk to Main Plaza and Visit The Cathedral
Visit Cusco´s Cathedral
Cusco´s Main Square (former and current ceremonial and festivals´place) is surrounded by important buildings like XVI - XVII AD Baroque “Cusco´s Cathedral” made by Incan artists.
- Visit Sacsayhuaman archaeological site and nearby ruins
Bus Ride to Sacsayhuaman
Visit Sacsayhuaman (“Puma´s Head") amazing fortressed Inca temple, its estimated volume: more than 6,000 cubic meters of neat stonework.
Proceed ride to Qenqo, Pucapucara and TambomachayIncan sites .
Walk in Tambomachay, shrine of Water Deity
Return to Hotel.
Day 2: Machu Picchu
Today we have an unforgettable experience, your visit to the lost city of the Inkas.
In the morning we will pick you up at your hotel to transfer you to train station.
The trip takes about 4 hours to Aguas Calientes Town. From there we will take the bus up to Macchupichu, meet your private Tour Guide and walk in this ancient Incan city.
Afternoon bus ride to Aguas Calientes to take train to Cusco. Transfer to the Hotel.
World Wonder Machu Picchu is in the Andes mountain cloud forest, enjoy beautiful settings, Inkas art, architecture, engineering, agriculture, astronomy and hydraulics.
Machu Picchu is at 2430 m (7960 ft.) , 50 miles NW from Cusco city, built on a ridge between Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu Mountains above Urubamba River Valley.
Yale University, National Geographic Society and Peruvian government supported Hiram Bingham in 1911, Machu Picchu was known only by local people before then.
Machu Picchu became World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO, describing it as "absolute architectural masterpiece and unique Inca civilization testimony".
Archaeologists believe Machu Picchu was Pachacuti Inca emperor (1438–1472) residence,
he who had begun fabulous stone constructions in Cuzco, Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
Machupicchu was probably abandoned in the XVI cent. and most inhabitants may have died from smallpox introduced by travelers before Spanish conquistadors arrived in the area.
Its main sections are: Agricultural sector, Urban sector, Military sector, Cemetery, Sacred Rock, Sacred Plaza, Three window temple, Main temple, Main Plaza and Sun Temple
Day 3: Sacred Valley of the Incas
7:20 am. Picking up time and depart from your hotel. We are going to have a scenic ride to visit the awsome Sacred Valley.
Arrival in Pisac, Inca handcraft market. Then we will visit the spectacular ruins of Pisaq. Then we will ride through different villages and towns like Coya, Lamay, Calca
Stop in Urubamba to have lunch.
After lunch we visit Ollantaytambo Archaeological site with its fascinating ruins, typical sample of Inca Architecture.
From Ollantaytambo we go to Chinchero Village and enter to its San Pedro Church.
End the tour at Cusco downtown area.
Transfer to the Hotel.
Day 4: Departure day
Transfer to the airport.
